Dreaming is the key to creating a better life

Sincronía 002

Hi friends,

In this newsletter, I want to share an anecdote that has made me smile and think a lot.

Ever since I was a girl in school, I felt different. I just couldn't buy into the idea of life I was being introduced to. And it felt terrible at the time because I couldn't see a path different from the one they were trying to lead me through. I grew up feeling resistance towards what I was told to do and think. It didn't take me long to realize going to university wasn't for me (not because I didn't try!). So I started working, to discover that I could not spend my days having someone decide on my time, holidays, and scheduling my days. The only idea makes me go crazy.

There are better ways of schooling than the one we’ve known.

“You are such a dreamer”

While I am still on the journey of becoming independent, the idea of being free has always seduced me. And it does so in such a way that each time I hear someone saying something like "work equals health" or "be more realistic, that's how life works," I try to explain why I don't think this is the only way things could work and why I want something very different for myself.

We have Silvia's mum at home. As an old lady, she doesn't understand why I pursue a life of independence, where I can decide what I want to do, where, and when.

She just thinks that doesn't exist, so the other day, she told me I am too fanciful.

According to her, I should bring my feet back on the ground, be ok with my job and move on with my life. And she's by no means the first person to tell me this. She just said the magic words: “You are such a dreamer.”

I loved what she said the minute she said it. And there you had me, trying to explain to her why having this ability to dream is so great.

This is me at work!

I told her that life and technology have evolved because someone once dreamt of different things. If we couldn't dream, nothing would ever change.

Questioning what we have around us and whether we buy on that or not is a trait of the wise. She, like many others, wasn't lucky enough to access a different way of thinking. Her life was conditioned from a young age and more so because she was born a woman. Many people in the past have been told what to do and not to question it. I see it as if they had been robbed of their own life.

But today is a different thing, luckily. We live and experience a reality of possibility and should take advantage. The world as we know it has already started to change. Values change as we recognize the need for more respectful ways of being and inhabiting this planet. It is easier than ever to access information, study, and learn.

With this, I am not saying that everybody should start pursuing a path of independence. I want this to encourage you to be critical and to aim for more because we all deserve more and better. That's why knowing yourself is so important.

I'm leaving you today with a video I've deeply resonated with lately. It's a long one, but so great. I hope it makes you think 🙃 (Steve is an amazing guy, and the meaning in his videos keeps getting deeper and deeper. I Couldn’t recommend his channel more).

Keep dreaming big!

Until next time,
